Advanced Weather Talk

Hey folks:
Back again this week. We’ve seen some snow on the WB webcams, even down to the Roundhouse, which is pretty darn exciting!
Now is the time to start watching and thinking about the weather! Some of the things that happen this time of year will affect conditions throughout the season. Our high alpine is currently getting a reasonably good sludge of snow slapped on considering it’s the first week of October.
While the Rockies tend to build facets with early season snowfall, this time of year is base building for us on the Coast. Early moisture (rain or snow) gives us something for winter snowfall to stick to.
It’s also time for the alpine/mixed climbers to pay attention. After a soaking like we’ve had the last few days, a clear and cold snap could make for excellent climbing up high!

Advanced Weather Presentation:
We’ve also got an event to let you in on. Our in-house meteorologist Jason Ross will be giving a presentation at SkiUphill on November 6th. His advanced weather forecast talk will be a deep dive into how he produces the forecast we include in our newsletter each week. He will review resources you can use in your own weather research.
