We love that you subscribe to our newsletter and we couldn’t be more psyched that so many of you read it every week and pass it along to your friends! As the season gets rolling, it’s time for us to ask a favour.
We want to keep this newsletter running and keep putting on cool events like our snowpack talks. As you can imagine, it takes a bit of time to get this all organized each week. As the week goes on, we’re texting back and forth, skiing together or separately, talking with friends, and getting in the snow. By Wednesday, we’ve got a feel for what’s going on and have a general synopsis. Thursday, we each start dropping thoughts into our google doc. Thursday night, we deep dive into the forecast and collaborate on cleaning it up (sometimes simultaneously) and then entering it into the email to send out Friday morning before we head out skiing!
You may also have noticed some changes to the weather forecast section. With Environment Canada preparing to discontinue their mountain weather forecast, we’ve started working with Squamish meteorologist Jason Ross to provide a public mountain weather forecast in conjunction with our newsletter. We’re excited to see how this partnership evolves!
We’ve also been working with the good folks at the Sea to Sky Gondola to establish a snow study plot and alpine weather station in their tenure. All this data is available to everyone via the S2SG website or Arfi.
All of the above takes some time and is also dependent on us getting out in the mountains every day. We’re committed to this remaining a free service to all users. If you do find all this useful, please consider becoming a supporter. It’s just a few bucks a week during the season. That’s barely a fancy coffee at Mt. Currie before you go crush a big day on the Duffey!
