May 9 - Sea to Sky Snow Conditions + Crevasse Rescue Course
Corn harvest time!

Well it's feeling a lot like spring. Eric is back in town from the Icefall Traverse and Evan has been holding down the fort getting stronger for rock climbing and letting his feet stretch out from the ski boots. We haven't shelved the ski gear for good but it's getting close.

Folks have been getting out still. Some of the high elevation classics have been getting hit pretty well. Wedge has been busy with many parties tagging the summit in excellent conditions. Continuous snow doesn't start until just below the lake so it's a bit of a hike! The Currie-Wedge traverse with a heli-drop on Hibachi Ridge is a good option this time of year.

Brohm is melting out. A few people have been tagging Garibaldi but the bergshrund is getting big.

It's really the time of year for Washington volcanos. Kulshan (Baker) and Tahoma (Rainier) have been getting tons of action. It feels like we're 1-2 months ahead of normal for low/mid-elevation spring melt so most of the trailheads are now melted out. Snowline sounds to be around 5000' in the North Cascades. The Heliotrope Ridge road washed out again in the fall and is bike only to gain the North side of Baker. South Side access is good to go.

Weather from Jason:

A weak frontal system will move across the south coast Friday, bringing cloud cover and a slight chance of showers. High pressure will rebuild on Saturday with warmer and drier conditions, while another weak system will brush the area on Sunday, accompanied by clouds and a slight chance of showers. High pressure will strengthen early next week, resulting in drier and warmer conditions.

What's coming up:

We're into rock season. Evan has been guiding the Chief a few times already! Hit up the website for summer pricing and to reach out to book!

Anyone interested in a crevasse rescue course on May 23/24? Hybrid design: one day in town, one day up in the Tantalus on skis! If you've got alpine objectives (or Cascade volcanos) coming up, let's get your crevasse skills dialled!

We'll send another note in a few weeks about 2027 ski trips and objectives so until then, enjoy the spring!
